Managing Director

I’m Mikey, Managing Director at High Voltage Support.

Creativity has taken me into film and television around the world and onto stages across Queensland. I’ve appeared in Mako Mermaids, Harrow, Stage Mums and Thor: Ragnarok, and played in bands Valorous Dredd and Jungle Juice. Across acting, music and writing, I love exploring how an idea or experience can become something other people connect with.

I found mentoring after COVID stopped my plans to travel to Vancouver for acting, just two weeks before I was due to leave. What began as a change of direction unlocked a passion. Being neurodivergent myself, and receiving a late diagnosis, mentoring also helped me understand more of my own story.

That experience shapes the culture we’re building at HVS. We listen to different ways of thinking, learning and communicating, learn from each other and give people space to express themselves in ways that feel natural to them.

Learning something in a game, through technology or in therapy is one thing. Finding ways to use it in everyday life, and express what you know or experience so others understand, can need a different approach. We start with what someone already loves and explore where it could lead.

For me, autonomy means having a real say in your own journey. We help each other find the next step without prescribing every turn, leaving room for different ways of thinking, learning and creating.

I've always believed that gaming is one of the most powerful tools we have, not just for entertainment, but for connection, creativity, and confidence-building. It's where problem-solving meets storytelling, where strategy meets social skills, and for so many neurodivergent individuals, it's a space where they feel seen, capable, and in control. That's what excites me most: the opportunity to take something I grew up with and turn it into something meaningful. From my perspective, the gaming world isn't just entertainment, it's the perfect vessel for purpose-driven work. I'm deeply committed to building programs, partnerships, and pathways that empower the neurodiverse community through tech, play, and creative learning. Whether I'm leading a brand strategy or forging a new collaboration, everything I do is rooted in this belief: that when we meet people where they are, in spaces they already love, we can help them thrive in ways that are truly life-changing.

Participant Care & Service Improvement

Gaming and online communities have always been a natural way for me to connect, have fun, and socialize with people who actually get me. Since I was 16, I've competed on esports teams — mainly in CS:GO — and built lasting friendships that have now spanned well over a decade. I deeply appreciate the many benefits the online world offers, and I'm just as aware of how important and easy it is to balance the digital and the physical. I'm passionate about helping people of all ages and backgrounds realize they don't have to choose between "online" and "real life". We can embrace both, keeping our lifestyles healthy and our minds happy.

What I love about coding is taking an idea and making something you can play, use or share.

As a full-stack developer, coding tutor and Head of Digital Systems & STEM at High Voltage Support, I help participants explore the creative side of technology through Roblox, Minecraft, websites, AI, 3D modelling and animation.

My lived experience of neurodiversity informs how I approach mentoring. I want participants to have room to ask questions, experiment and find a way of learning that makes sense to them, while creating something they’re excited to call their own.

ARTS SOCIAL

I focus on creative work, especially animals, monsters, robots and creatures. My art tends to lean character focused and stylistic. I love helping participants make art and expand on their character ideas, and I enjoy making costume parts and masks. I have made paws, tails, ears and masks from foam, and my favourite materials to work with are felt, fur, foam carving, hand stitching and clay. One on one digital art, plus helping develop teamwork and social confidence.
